Bomber spreads awareness for disabled American vets

from staff reports

The Disabled American Veterans brings its message of service and volunteerism in support of our nation’s combat-wounded men and women to the "Wings Over Meridian" air show today and Sunday at Naval Air Station Meridian.

As part of a national air show tour, the DAV shares its timely and patriotic message on the wings of Panchito, a fully restored B-25 Mitchell Bomber. Famed for its role in the World War II Doolittle Raid, the B-25 now flies a modern-day mission, promoting veterans services in partnership with Disabled American Veterans.

“DAV represents a critical need in this era. The men and women serving this country need the support of DAV now more than ever. Using this iconic aircraft to share that message could not be more fitting,” says Rob Lewis, Marketing and Special Events Manager for DAV.

Alongside the B-25, airshow spectators will find the Disabled American Veterans’ fully interactive display where they can learn more about DAV services and obtain information about veteran’s benefits.

The Disabled American Veterans, representing more than 1.3 million disabled veterans, is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. It is dedicated to one, single purpose: building better lives for our nation’s disabled veterans and their families.
