Easter egg explosion

Eggs everywhere

By Ben Lockridge / staff writer

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs.

That seemed to be the theme Saturday at Highland Park as there was not one; but two Easter egg hunts held for the kids in the area.

Word of Faith Christian Center held an Easter egg hunt as well as hosted other activities, but Pastor Clinton Hall says it goes much deeper than Easter eggs.

"The real purpose here is spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Pastor Hall said. "We're having the Easter egg hunt, and we're giving away candy and prizes, but it's really to show people how good God is to us. He sent His son to die for our sins, and He rose from the grave, and is alive today. That's the message we're trying to get out to people."

In addition to the Easter egg hunt and the prizes, there was a step dance team that performed for the kids.

Word of Faith Christian Center was not the only group to hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday. The City of Meridian Parks and Recreation department also had their annual Easter egg hunt that was also located in Highland Park.

"We've hidden at least 3,000 eggs in the park," said organizer Mary Quince of the City's Park and Recreation department. "My background is in recreation and physical education; it's what I've done all my life, and I love it. To see people coming and enjoying what you put together; I love it, and I look forward to it."

Collectively, both Easter egg hunts drew in around 400 kids from the area.
