Deadlines to register to vote upcoming

The deadlines to register to vote in this year's municipal elections for the City of Meridian and the Town of Marion are approaching.
In all Mississippi elections, the deadline to register is 30 days before election day. For the City of Meridian primary election, which will be held May 5, the deadline to register to vote is April 5. For the City of Meridian and Town of Marion general elections, which will be held June 2, the deadline to register to vote is May 3. The Town of Marion will not have a primary election this year.
Since April 5 and May 3 both fall on a Sunday, Meridian City Hall will be open for part of the day on Saturday, April 4 and Saturday, May 2 to accept voter registration applications. Marion Town Hall will be open one half day on May 2.
The deadline to cast absentee ballots in Mississippi this year is April 25 for primary elections, May 16 for run-off elections, and May 30 for general elections. Meridian City Hall and Marion Town Hall will both be open additional times in order to accept absentee ballots.
Voters in Meridian can register at the temporary City Hall location on 7th Street. Voters in Marion can register at Marion Town Hall on Dale Drive. All voters living in Lauderdale County, including Meridian and Marion, can register to vote in the circuit clerk's office in the Lauderdale County Courthouse on 21st. Avenue.
