The actual trial of Ronald Husband, charged with two counts of capital murder in the Nov. 27, 2005 shooting deaths of two Wiggins police officers, is expected to begin today after Monday was spent picking a jury.
Circuit Court Judge Roger T. Clark, who presides over cases in Stone County, told the more than 120 potential jurors the proceedings may go throughout the week. Scores of witnesses are expected to be called by both the prosecution and the defense.
Husband, 48, of Brooklyn, reportedly killed Odell Fite, 48, and Brandon Breland, 23, when the two officers responded to a domestic call in Wiggins on the night of Nov. 27. According to accounts, Husband is said to have wrestled Breland's service weapon from him and then fatally shooting him and Fite.
