Musicians welcomed for MCC ensembles

From staff reports

Local and area musicians who want to band together can do just that with Meridian Community College’s band ensembles, according to Carey Smith, director of instrumental music at the College.

The Community Band rehearses on Sundays from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in preparation for the MCC Arts & Letters Series concert scheduled for April 5.

Jazz Band rehearsals begin today, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. and will continue to meet on Monday evenings through early April in preparation for the Big Band Bash, which is scheduled for April 17, from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. in the Frank Cochran Center.

Flute choir meets on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. with rehearsals in Room 1114 of Ivy Hall.

The annual Patriotic Concert will be in June in the MSU Riley Center.

For more information about bands and schedules contact Smith at (601) 484-8637.
