State Writer's Guild Conference set for August in Vicksburg

MERIDIAN —     The Mississippi Writers Guild’s Seventh Annual Conference will be held Aug. 2-3 at the Hampton Inn in Vicksburg.

    Keynote speaker will be award-winning author/poet Steve Kistulentz, former professor at John Hopkins University and currently director of the Millsaps Visiting Writers Series.

    Workshops and on-site registration will be held Aug. 3 at Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation starting at 8 a.m.

    The opening keynote address will be presented by Stephen Fraser, a literary agent with the Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency in New York City for both juvenile and adult books. He was voted Top Agent for Picture Books and Middle Grade Fiction.

    John Floyd, winner of the 2007 Derringer Award for short mystery fiction and listed in The Best American Mystery Stories' "Distinguished Stories List" four times, will be keynote luncheon speaker. Social media marketing expert Don Lafferty will present the afternoon keynote address.
