MERIDIAN —     An overview of changes made at county voting precincts was presented by Newton County Circuit Clerk Mike Butler at the September meeting of the Lawrence Community Club.

According to Butler, three precincts have been closed: Hazel, Chapel Hill and Liberty. Those who voted at these locales were moved into another precinct.

Butler showed maps of all the voting precincts. He also distributed material showing the number of voters in each precinct.

The Sept. 5, 2013, meeting opened with Wardene Mason asking the blessing for the pot luck supper served by hostesses Mildred Pace and Lucy Buckley. Seven families were present and guest, Carla Butler.

A devotional reading from Matthew 7 was presented: "Judge not that ye be not judged."

The next meeting will be Oct. 3 with a pot luck supper. Attendance is open to the public.
