Suqualena Community Development Club

MERIDIAN —     Discussion of activities for the year and club business highlighted the February meeting of the Suqualena Community Development Club.

    Among upcoming activities is an Easter egg hunt, which the club will host on April 19 in the Grove at Suqualena and the Methodist Church.

    Club president Janet Reeves called the Feb. 24, 2014, meeting to order. Lloyd Hutcherson let the club in the Pledge to the American flag.

    Devotion was led by Lloyd Hutcherson, who referred to the Paul Harvey article "If I were the devil." Harvey said if he were the devil, he would destroy the country – just as satan is doing today.

    During the business session, the club honored Lloyd and Shirley Hutcherson for being named "Man and Woman of the Year." The Hutchersons dedicated their honor to two friends who have ment so much to them, Hayward Beddingfield and the late Harvey Henson.

    JoAnn Kimbrell reported on the Over-80s banquet.  At the awards banquet, the club received a mini grant and was presented an award. Kimbrell was named "Secretary of the Year."

    The 18 members in attendance were treated to a pot luck meal provided by members of the club.
