Meridian Activity Center produces winners at Quilting Expo

Stonewall — FYI ...

Open enrollment for Medicare – as well as to make any changes in your existing plan – is from Oct. 15- Dec. 7.

To discuss your options, Meridian Activity Center welcomes Mary Lou Hutchinson and a representative from Humana on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. They will discuss Medicare Advantage. A Medicare Advantage Plan is a type of health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide you with all your Part A and Part B benefits. The representatives are not here to sell, but to show you how to choose the plan that is best for you.

If you plan to attend, please call the Center at (601)485-1812 to RSVP with me or Mary Lou Hutchinson at (601) 527-3673..

With your health in mind, we are again offering flu shots the next day, (Oct. 24), from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. These are being offered by the Lauderdale County Health Department. Shots are free with Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP. Be sure to bring your card.

Scary potatoes?

Okay, granted there is nothing particularly scary about a baked potato – unless it is VERY hot! However, that is how Hospice Compassus is helping us celebrate on Oct. 31 – with loaded baked potatoes at noon.

Let’s hope for a very cold day that last Wednesday in the month – a little rain and dark clouds would help. Who knows what could come along with a loaded baked potato on the scariest day of the year? Be sure to RSVP by noon on Oct. 29 – we need to know how many to shove in the oven (next to the little girls and boys! Hee hee hee!) Phone (601) 485-1812.

And ... Otha Barham and The Daydreamers will entertain us on Oct. 27.

Meridian Activity Center is located at 3300 32nd Ave., in the middle of a residential area between Meridian High School and Northwest Middle School. The best cross-street is 36th Street, off 29th Avenue or Poplar Springs Drive.

Call (601) 485-1812 for information about any of our classes, ceramics, pool room, Bingo every first and third Thursday, retiree meetings, walking trail, neighborhood watch meeting, colored pencil drawing, painting workshops and more!!
