Mississippi homemaker volunteers

MERIDIAN —     The Newton County Fashion Revue was held recently at the Newton County Extension Office in Decatur.

    Katrina McCalphia narrated the event and 13 members attended. Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers members who entered Clothing Construction were: Johnnie Mae Walker, Shirley Johnson and Carolyn Robinson. Leora Chapman and Barbara Coleman modeled in Clothing Selection.

    All received blue ribbons and are eligible to compete at the Area Fashion Revue in Wayne County. The judges for this event were Josephine Tate from Noxubee County, and Ruby Rankin from Kemper County; they are County Coordinators.

     Upcoming events include:

    • South Central Area Spring Meeting, March 19 in Waynesboro.

    • Newton County Cultural Arts Contest, March 22 at the Extension Office in Decatur

    • 4-H Scholarship Bake Sale, March 22 in Decatur at the Newton County Courthouse.
