MERIDIAN —     Members of the Obadiah Volunteer Homemakers Club were locked in a bidding war during a special auction at the club's October meeting.

A spa foot bath, mini vacuum, selected books and many other “must haves” were on the bidding block. Proceeds from the event went to the club's chosen charitable organizations.

The meeting opened with a devotional by LouElla Limerick, who encourage members to live each day to the fullest, as if it is the last.

"Don’t miss an opportunity to let people know that you love them," Limerick said.

The meeting was called to order by Virginia White. During the business session, the minutes and financial statement for the October were presented.

Members discussed the recent 28th Annual Homemakers Arts and Crafts Show, which proved to be a success. More than 1,600 attended.

It was noted that the club's seasonal workshop will be held later in the month.

Thirteen members and special guests Nick Jordan and Summer Etheridge were in attendance at the October meeting.

Hostesses Lou Ella Limerick and Robin Doerner served refreshments.

The meeting closed with everyone reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
