MERIDIAN —     Don and Nancy Eller of Eller’s Sunshine Garden in Leesburg, Ga., discussed the day-to-day operations of their facility at the September meeting of the Meridian Daylily Club.

    The program included a slide presentation of the garden – past and future introductions – as well as their hybridizing programs. After a question-and-answer session, an auction of plants from Sunshine Garden was held..

    The Sept. 8, 2012, meeting was held at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse. After lunch and fellowship, President Doyle Pierce called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

    Club minutes were presented by Elsie Meador, secretary, and the treasurer’s report was presented by Pete Connolly.

    Emilio Suarez, chairman of the Nominating Committee, presented the following recommendations for next term's officers: president – Pete Connolly; vice president – Doyle Pierce; treasurer – Jim Smith; secretary – Elsie Meador; and reporter – Beverly Odom. Suarez made the motion that the nominees be elected; the motion was seconded and the slate of new officers were elected by a unanimous vote.

    Two daylilies were given away as door prizes. Winners were Toni Thompson and Juanita Temple.

    The next scheduled meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. Guest speaker will be John Kinnebrew Jr. of Spacecoast Daylilies in Scottsmoor, Fla.

     The club meets on the second Saturday of every other month at 11 a.m. at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse. Guests are welcome.
