MERIDIAN — Upcoming events
On Nov. 5, we will host a Mississippi Center for Non-Profits Grant Writing class here at our office. The class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last all day.
This class will teach individuals the basics in grant writing and grant management. As organizations look for alternative funding opportunities, this class will help prepare you for writing a grant proposal, seeking outside resources. It will also assist you on locating possible funding sources.
On Nov. 7, we will again offer the AARP Drivers Safety class. Ben Glazar is the instructor and will share additional tips to the instructor's manual. At the end of this four-hour class, participants will receive a receipt to receive a reduction in their auto insurance. All auto insurance companies in Mississippi honor this receipt; the reduction varies by insurance provider. The receipt is valid for three years.
Be a Hero,
As always, we recognize our sponsor – the United Way of East Mississippi – and ask you to consider a donation to their efforts to help others.
One donation to United Way helps 14 different partner agencies throughout this community, as well as several community impact programs. The United Way is an organized effort to assist a wide variety of community organizations that do not have the time, staff or finances to raise money for themselves.
We can all be a hero in this community by supporting our local United Way. If we all give a little, it can mean a lot.
• Diana S. Glover is director of RSVP of Meridian/Lauderdale County.
