Lawrence Community Club

MERIDIAN —     Representatives of Sta-Home Health and Hospice, Meridian Office, were guest speakers at the October meeting of the Lawrence Community Club.

     Cynthia Armstrong, volunteer coordinator, Candi Thrash and Jo Ellen Woodham discussed services provided by Sta-Home, which has 30 offices in Mississippi and 900 employees.

    Home health provides physician authorized medical treatments in the home. Services include: skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, home health aides, speech and language pathology, medical social services, dietary counseling, patient and family education.

      According to the health and hospice care representatives, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as most insurance programs cover the cost of home health and hospice care.

    The devotional reading was from Matthew 7:1:, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." It was noted that in September, the abundance of the fields and orchards, which have come after a long season of growing and tending. Human beings develop through long seasons of growing and tending. Members were encouraged to resolve to not judge and criticize, but recognize that the people around you are growing. God isn’t through with any of them. Be patient and tolerant.

     During the business session, it was noted that bags of paper were delivered to the East Mississippi Animal Shelter.

     The Oct. 3, 2013, meeting was attended by eight families. Host and hostesses were Jerry Simmons and Lucille and Elaine Moss.

    The club's next meeting will be Nov. 7.
