MERIDIAN —     The recent Community Development Clubs' Annual Awards and upcoming event were among topics at the February meeting of the Hickory MHV Club.

    Hickory MHV was named "Club of the Year" for Newton County at the awards event, and place third for Secretary's Record Book.

    The Feb. 8, 2014, meeting was held in Hickory Wesley Chapel Fellowship Hall, with club president Daisy Nichols serving as hostess. Nichols led prayer and the salute to the flag. Five members were present.

     Members were reminded of the Arts and Crafts Show scheduled March 17 at 9 a.m. at the Decatur Extension Office. Several members will have entries in the show. The council meeting will be held after the event.

    The county will host the MHV Spring Area Meeting on March 18,at Newton County Coastal Plain Experiment Station on Highway 80, east of Newton. Each club is asked to bring two door prizes.

     The meeting closed with the MHV Creed.
