MLT to present first fundraiser/dinner theater

MERIDIAN —     For the first time in the history of Meridian Little Theatre, a two-night fundraiser/dinner theater will be presented at the Highway 39 playhouse.

"Greater Tuna" will be presented Friday and Saturday in the Davidson Room at MLT. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Dessert will be served during intermission of the play.

The uproariously funny "Greater Tuna" features seasoned actors Steve Nabors, Scott Farmer and Zena Limerick.

Nabors, who teaches and directs theatre at Meridian Community College, has worked in both professional theatre and film in Los Angeles and has done roles for MCC and the Angels Theatre in Meridian.

Farmer has appeared in numerous shows at MLT, including "No Sex Please!" "We’re British" and "Bye, Bye Birdie."

Limerick has performed roles in "Nuncrackers," "Grease" and "The Halleluiah Girls" at Meridian Little Theatre, and "Rented Christmas" and "The Butler Did It Singing" for the Angels Theatre.

Each actor will portray both the male and female citizens of Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas, as this fast paced farce satirizes small Texas town life.

The family-style dinner – which will be prepared by Pretty Presentations – features dishes named after several characters in the play: Texas Beef Brisket, Aunt Pearl’s Scalloped Potatoes, Phineas Blye Baked Beans, Good Ole’ Green Beans, Reverend Spike’s Cole Slaw, Struvie’s Green Salad, A Wheel of Thurston’s Cornbread (Jalapeño Cornbread served in Black Skillets) and “It Will, It Will, It Will Knock Your Socks Off” Banana Pudding (Served in 4 -ounce Mason jars) and sweet tea.

Tickets for the dinner/show are $40 per person and include two beverages of your choice. For reservations, call Meridian Little Theatre at (601) 482-6371
