The Meridian Star
MERIDIAN — The December meeting of the Suqualena Community Development Club was the annual Christmas party.
Annette Palmer, president, welcomed everyone to the festivities. Shirley Hutcherson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jo Ann Kimbrell presented the devotional, "Peace and Being Silent." The story told of how God told the head angel of Heaven's choir to be silent and not sing praises until the little baby Jesus was born and then sing Glory to God in the Highest, and then go and tell the shephards where to find the Baby and to follow the shining star to Bethlehem. We are to celebrate each day and tell others about Jesus and that is why we sing glory to God. It was hard for the angel to be silent, but he followed God's command. That is what we are to do. We need to sing His praises for others to hear.
Becky Fulton played a Christmas medley on the piano. Palmer sang "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," The Hutchersons sang "Old Christmas Carol," "Silver Bells" and "Pretty Paper – Pretty Ribbons of Blue."
Everyone brought a Christmas item to exchange. The "Right-Left" game was played with Jackie Fulton reading the story. With much laughter everyone tried to go left or right.
Fulton ended the evening by playing "O Holy Night."
