Volunteers with the AARP Tax-Aide assistance and preparation service have their tax forms ready and computers turned on – all in preparation to begin e-filing 2013 returns. All tax preparation volunteers receive formal training each year and are re-certified to be Tax-Aide volunteers.
Beginning Feb. 4 (each Tuesday through tax season), AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will assist taxpayers with their 2013 tax returns from 9 a.m..-1 p.m., at The United Way/RSVP Office, 721 Front St., Ext. 760. Reservations are needed at this location. Call (601) 482-0512.
All Thursdays – beginning Feb. 6 – during tax season. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be at East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA), 2128 Highway 39 North, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Assistance and preparation is first come, first served at this location.
Customers should bring their previous year (2012) tax return, along with their paperwork for 2013 and Social Security cards for all members of the family. It is not necessary to bring blank tax forms.

AARP Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax program. Founded nationally in 1968, it has been offered in Meridian for several years.
