MERIDIAN — Dear man of God
I pray this letter finds you in good spirit! It was placed upon my heart to write you this letter. As I was doing my daily reading, the Lord kept taking me back to the Book of Hosea, chapter 4.
This chapter talks about /Israel/Meridian’s punishment and restoration. It says, “Say to your brother, my people and of your sisters, my Loved ones.”
"Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you as my priest; because you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore your children. The more the priest increased, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful. They feed on the sins of my people and relished on their wickedness. And it will be: like people, like priests. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds. A spirit of prostitution leads them astray."
If I must interpret this for you to better understand; you watched this town murder (three) innocent boys nearly 50 years ago, and said nothing. You watched how they gambled through illegal parlay houses and said nothing.
You watched how wickedness took over your schools and deleted prayer out of the lives of your children, and said nothing. You watch incompetent and greedy politicians get elected to represent your people, and said nothing. You watched your churches and communities dissolve away right before your very eyes, and said nothing.
You watched drug bring an epidemic upon the very communities in which you lived, and said nothing. Now you’ve watched the governmental, judicial and local leaders perpetuate a Schoolhouse to Jailhouse Pipeline, and said nothing. Finally, you watched the community leaders incarcerate your people in local public housing; knowing it was only to be used as a temporary stop over to home ownership, and you said nothing. Now the children are wreaking havoc upon our communities and, and you say nothing!
The local city governmental and public school leaders aren’t going to solve what they had a hand in setting up. The answers are far from them! They can’t stop this even if they wanted to.
A system which creates a supply of (youthful/adult criminals) through a push them out of the school systems practice; which ultimately created a demand for more police/sheriff officers, lawyers, judges, probations officers, jailers, parole officers, guidance counselors, drug counselors, special education teachers, etc …; not to mention all the federal funds being funneled through the city in this state, which have more people living in public housing than most major cities in this country.
This has definitely created distress in the ministry. I am often asked, “What has been the most discouraging thing in your ministry?”
As far as I can remember, my answer has remained consistent over the years. There are two issues that deeply distress me. One is seeing those who ought to be the most mature in the faith – the ones who know the Word of God well, turn their backs on the faith and embrace sin.
The second is being falsely accused by fellow men of God of the Gospel. Some men seem to desire to discredit the ministry of others. They falsely accuse other ministers, not because they have a valid reason, but simply for the satisfaction of discrediting them.
As you live a Godly life, expect that your service to God will be attacked. But don’t let that affect your Joy!
