Come to the Marion public hearing

In The Meridian Star (newspaper) there is a public notice of a meeting to be held September 4th at 5 p.m.

This is for a “public hearing” on the Board’s plan to increase property taxes by 10 percent on “all categories” of property.

I find it interesting that this meeting is scheduled on a day when a lot of folks will still be out of town for the holiday, and at a time when the “workin’ man” won’t be able to attend.

This is a BAD idea. This will be BAD for Marion. This will HURT our growth and development and cause more hardship than it will correct.

What this means is that the new construction will cease because no one wants to buy a home or build a home in a high tax area.

What this means is no one will want to build rental units or businesses because the taxes will either eat their profits away, or will cause them to have to raise prices above other competitors.

What this means is taxes on land, cars, trucks, businesses, trailers, campers, boats, homes, and any other taxable item will increase.

I plan to fight this tooth & nail. The politicians created a mess, now they can’t pay the bill so they expect “US” to pay for it.

What this means is that EVERYONE gets another “pay cut” ‘cause their dollar doesn’t go as far as it did before.

Why???

Because EVERY business in Town will have to increase their prices, to EVERY CUSTOMER, in order to pay the new taxes.

This means the customers get to pay for the tax increase TWICE. Once at home, then again at the store.

This is EXACTLY the kind of (stuff) the founding fathers were against.

This is EXACTLY why there were tons of tea thrown into the ocean.

This is EXACTLY why every Citizen should watch the politicians CLOSELY at every Board meeting to insure they don’t act against your best interest.

Next, the issue is set to be voted on at the Town Meeting on September 11th. Without a public outcry, it WILL be passed. Then, for the second time, the Citizens will have been attacked and victimized on 9-11 without warning.

DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!!

Join in to block this BAD decision.

We need EVERY Citizen to be at the September 4th hearing.

Then, we need every Citizen to be at the September 11th Town Meeting to insure they don’t do it anyway.
