Not appalled by photo

As a citizen of Meridian and a Meridian Star reader I am doing as Marilyn Potts requested and contacting you about the recent article in Meridian 360 regarding Karla Boutwell.
I did see the picture and also read the ENTIRE article. I was not appalled by the picture, if I had any emotion at all it could best be called envy and then shock when I read her age!
As for worrying about the "children" seeing such a picture ... Well, I can't seem to conjure up the image of thousands of "children" sitting down to breakfast and opening a newspaper, even if I wish it were true. They would first have to release their grip on the cell phone in order to turn the pages. Trust me if it isn't texted, online or TV they are not going to see it!
As far as the picture being like a Playboy "photo shoot," how many decades has it been since you've seen a Playboy magazine? Do you even own a TV? There are much worse images floating through the airways.
You are right that the Meridian Star has a right to publish what they want. Which one of those Amendments? Oh yes the First! That is also why they printed your letter. The original article stated that the proceeds from the calendar would go to charity, sounds like a win/win situation to me?
As for Ms Boutwell I have a few words for her —YOU GO GIRL!
