My public apology to the Meridian City Council

We all must eventually evaluate the cost of the Mission we are given, and determine when you must stand and see the Salvation of the Lord!

Mrs. Mary Perry, Councilwoman of Ward 2, here in this City of Meridian, Mississippi — I apologize for publically disrespecting you and my elders with my comments I made toward you in the council chambers on Tuesday, May 5th 2009! I was wrong and deeply regret venting my frustrations before the City. I’m Sorry! Please forgive me!

I realize as a man of God, the Christ like spirit must always exemplify who we stand for! The public display of my comments revealed the journey gets hard sometimes, and the old self has a tendency raise up were you want to take matters in your own hand.

That was my feeling towards the Republican Party for trying to manipulate the events surrounding the recent death of Representative Charles Young Sr. The Democratic Party is outraged and should be for good reasons. The level of disrespect shown toward this legacy of a man only revealed the depth of levels parties would go to control political and social powers! The disrespect also shown by members of his own party, not using everything within their powers, especially their voice, to stand for human decency which is due every citizen; especially if his contribution was a public display of some of the things a man should stand for! That was what caused my outburst!

Laws are man written decrees, established for guidance of a civilized society. But we must remember, man wrote these Laws, and man can challenge Laws when he sees situation around the laws, does not give every citizens either Constitutional respect, or rights! What if this country had never challenged the Civil Rights Laws governing the rights to vote, or eat in certain public restaurants, or even just riding on a public bus?

We must not be intimidated to challenge such Laws or Individuals when we see the laws need reviewing, rescinding, or eventually abolishing, when that law treats citizens unfairly. What if we had never? That was my ultimate point to the City Council, Citizens, and the Democratic Party regarding rights we all claim to possess in this Country!
