“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight for, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men.” — John Stewart Mill
Sadly, our nation has become the victim of a global war of terrorism conducted by Islamofacists whose ultimate target is our minds (US and coalition casualties in Iraq & Afghanistan are merely collateral damage).
The war is being fought in accordance with state-of-the-art psychological warfare, textbook principles, toppling city governments worldwide and having already toppled our nation’s congress and is about to topple our presidency.
The terrorists’ continuing success in our country is being made possible (a piece of cake?), by a US national liberal faction who controls the national congress, the main stream media and by many “miserable creatures” whom John Stewart Mill aptly describes.
I suppose that the nation’s conservative faction is beginning to accept the fact that our nation just may necessarily need to hit bottom — really hit bottom — on the order of experiencing a catastrophe of 911 proportions times 100,000, with the expectation that this catastrophic “bottom” may just cause our national liberal faction and “miserable creatures” to become “better men”.
From this point of rude awakening, “exertions of better men” just may allow our nation’s pursuit of the war in a manner in which our freedom was won for us by our forefathers.
