1970s car got 375 MPG





Every now and again something comes out that makes you say, "Hmm."

In the 1970s, while we were under the oil crunch, Shell Oil had a contest to capture technology that made cars more fuel efficient. The winners handed over to Shell their inventions.

Why hasn't Shell shared this technology with the auto industry? Could it be that they want us to pay for more gas than we actually need, thereby driving up their profits?
