From McClatchy Newspapers, Feb. 20, 2008: “The Bush administration is pressing the opposition leaders who defeated Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to allow the former general to retain his position, a move that Western diplomats and U.S. officials say could trigger the very turmoil the United States seeks to avoid.”
What is this, some kind of secret dictator’s club King George is trying to recruit members for?
What happened to “free” and “open” democratic elections and the will of the people?
The Pakistan people have rejected Islamic fundamentalism and freely elected a majority secular Parliament and now our Supreme Court appointed President wants them to keep their former military General, who recently locked up judges and lawyers, in charge of their lives.
Evidently, horrible, unpopular leaders have to stick together. This way they can start unnecessary wars, and avoid impeachment.
