Stop bashing Ray Boswell

In reference to WTOK-TV News reports ( 5 and 6 p.m.), Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, any viewer who watched and listened closely could easily detect that your news report on and with Lauderdale County Board President Ray Boswell was a continuation of your past reports for the last several months —what I call, "Bashing Boswell." I believe that we citizens have got a good five member board in place, and only into the second month I believe your biased television news coverage is the same as it was for the last four years — that all of our county government problems are because of Ray Boswell. I am thankful that everybody does not agree with you, and especially the people of District 5. Others who might agree with you, that is their privilege and they can give their opinion if they desire. But here is mine and I, like Ray Boswell, will speak up and let you know where I stand and how I feel. OK?

Yes, Ray Boswell is a friend of mine and has been for many years! The election commissioner and most of the others ladies at the Circuit Clerk's office are my personal friends. Ms. Brown of the television news staff is a fine young lady that I have met and she does a great job in her reports. But I believe anyone who watched those two news reports could surely witness the unfairness which you people demonstrated towards board president Boswell. While he was calmly trying to tell the reporter what actually happened, she did not permit him to explain ... but kept "butting in" and proclaiming that their (two supervisors) discussion was a "meeting" and she never gave him a chance to clear the situation up. No, I did not "click on" to your Web site, WTOK-TV to give you my opinion, because only you would know that I gave you a "zero minus" in my poll. But I rather chose The Meridian Star to let everyone know how I feel, that the new board with these five good men cannot do a good job if you continue to broadcast what are in my opinion bias reports and "Bashing Boswell."

Here's the real deal, citizens: Our federal, state, and county governments all over America are spending money (we don't have) and borrowing more to pay down and to keep spending trillions upon trillions of dollars. Ray Boswell does not want to spend our tax money without "Walking slow and waiting to see" if the spending is warranted. What is wrong with this, taxpayers? There are a lot of businesses in this county probably needing new computers and equipment that is having to do the same thing. Are you with me? Think about it. I do pray that all of us can get together. We must agree that our news media can't run our governments and our people. That job is for the people.
