White House fails to foresee the obvious

What is it with the Bush administration's inability to foresee anything? Are they living in such a bubble that simple logic fails them at every turn?

In recently discovered documents in regards to the lead-up to the Iraq debacle, Mr. Bush said he "thought it unlikely that there would be internecine warfare between the different religious and ethnic groups."

In the aftermath and FEMA's bungling of the response to Katrina, it seems no one could have thought that the levees might break.

And Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was just completely taken aback at Hamas winning the elections in Palestine.

Most recently the government was stunned to find out that putting a convicted felon in charge of $82 billion in Iraqi reconstruction money would turn out with corruption, bribery and weapons charges against the official.

It is often said that hindsight is a good thing, but is that all Mr. Bush and his cohorts have going for them? Leading by looking over your shoulder? You can have all of the intelligence in the world dropped on your lap, but if you can't figure it out, you have no reason to be holding a position of importance.

Remember, George was a "C" student and proud of it.
