MERIDIAN — Meridian Police Department



    The Meridian Police Department reported the following arrests between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.



    • Possession of marijuana — Shantrell D. Brown, 30, 110 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenwood.

    • Stalking — Andrew Causey, 40, 4315 Hwy. 39 N., Meridian.

    • Trespassing — Deundreaus, S. Portis, 20, 1404 45th Ave., Meridian.

    • Burglary — Emmanuel D. Toole, 20, 2204 10th Ave., Meridian.

    • Burglary — Ryan C. Warren, 22, 2316 Hwy. 19 N., Meridian.

    • Shoplifting — Kevin McCoy, born 1972, Enterprise.



Incident reports



    The Meridian Police Department reported the following incidents between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.   



Residential burglary

    Thursday at 2:40 a.m., police were called to a residential burglary in the 1000 block of North Frontage Road. Upon arrival they were met by the victim who explained someone came into his room and stole some money. Police took the suspect into custody shortly afterwards but the victim declined to prosecute after getting his money back. However this suspect remains a person of interest in some of the reported armed robberies at area motels and is being held for questioning.

    At 7:50 a.m., police responded to a residential burglary in the 2200 block of 25th Avenue. Upon arrival they were shown where someone attempted to make entry through a door but was unsuccessful.

    At 8:21 a.m., police responded to a residential burglary in the 100 block of Eighth Avenue. Upon arrival they were shown where entry was made through a door and miscellaneous items were stolen.

    Thursday at 1:25 p.m., police responded to a residential burglary in the 4900 block of 28th Street. Upon arrival they were shown where entry was made through a door and a TV stolen.

    At 2:41 PM, Meridian Police responded to a Residential Burglary in the 500 block of 14th Avenue.  Upon arrival they were shown how entry was made through a door and a TV was stolen.

    The Meridian Police Department encourages citizens to lock the doors of the homes and vehicles to discourage burglaries and thefts.



Stolen Vehicle

    At 2:34 a.m. Thursday, police found a vehicle abandoned on 14th Street. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from the 1300 block of 24th Avenue. The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Auto Burglary        

    Police responded to an auto burglary in the 1700 block of Second Street. Officers were shown where entry was made through a window and miscellaneous items were stolen.

Lauderdale County Sheriff's       Department



    The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department reported the following arrests between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.



    • DUI — Christopher R. Gray, 42, 7883 CR 350, Meridian.

    • Felony bad check — Ladora Scott, 29, 416 Howard Johnson Rd., Porterville.

    • DUI — Brian E. Sims, 39, 605 31st Ave., Meridian.

    • DUI — Paula A. Thompson, 42, 14316 Hwy. 43, Vandiver, Ala.

    • 8900 block Hwy. 19 N., Collinsville.

    • 4900 block Valley Rd., Meridian.



Mississippi Highway Patrol



    Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop H reported the following arrests between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.



    • DUI — Lauren B. Harrison, 20, 7971 Dabbs Rd., Meridian.



Marion Police Department



    The Marion Police Department reported the following arrests between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.



    • Disorderly conduct — Krissy N. Bennett, 33, 2310 Gravier St., New Orleans, La.

    • Disorderly conduct — Shanice M. Perry, 20, 3146 East Cook Rd., Lauderdale.

    The Meridian Fire Department reported the following emergency runs between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

    • Medical assist, 14th St.

    • Grass fire, 8th St.

    • Grass fire, Sweet Gum Bottom Rd.                     



    The volunteer fire departments reported the following emergency runs between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

    • Assist other agency, Hwy. 19 N. (Collinsville)

    • Brush fire, Wilsondale Rd. (Collinsville)

    Metro Ambulance reported 35 emergency runs between 3 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday.
