Important elements, such as what you know and how capable you are in executing your knowledge, will be responsible for your rise in status in the year ahead. The better prepared you are, the higher you can climb.



LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- You will do quite well with whatever you take on, but only if you don't let your ego get in the way. Don't pretend to know how to do something if you've never had any experience.



VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- Today's activities might offer some pleasant reprieves from the pressures of the day. However, be careful when having a good time; you don't want to forget about the costs.



LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) -- You'll handle difficult assignments rather easily because you're prepared. Yet, when it comes to the easy tasks that you believe can be done blindfolded, that's when you're likely to screw up.



SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) -- Your gregarious mood will provide many enjoyable interactions and conversations with others, but there is a word of warning: You could inadvertently say things you don't want repeated.



SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) -- Keep your expectations within reasonable bounds and you will accomplish many things. Overstep them, and things will fall apart. That line between optimism and self-delusion is a thin one.



CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) -- The only way you will be successful is to rely totally upon your resourcefulness and perseverance. The minute you depend on Lady Luck, all you put your hand to could go awry.



AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) -- Many times your hunches are strong, reliable allies, but that's not likely to be the case at this time -- so don't bank on them. View all your dealings pragmatically, especially important matters.



PISCES (Feb. 20-March 20) -- Think twice about getting involved in a joint venture with an individual who can afford to lose should things go south. You'll be the one who is hurt if you can't take the loss.



ARIES (March 21-April 19) -- If you're involved in something for which you could use some outside advice, you'll be smart to listen to several different people. You'll know when you hear the best answers.



TAURUS (April 20-May 20) -- You will be extremely imaginative, and many of your ideas will be quite good. However, when it comes to implementing them, you could be inflicted with a severe case of procrastination.



GEMINI (May 21-June 20) -- Miscalculations in your dealings can be rectified, but things will never be like new again. You can fix all the dents, but the metal will have been weakened; be prepared to treat things gently.



CANCER (June 21-July 22) -- The later it gets in the day, the greater your lack of judgment in evaluating critical matters, so don't put things off. Make all-important assessments early on -- when you are well rested.
