Allred wins renovation award

Heritage Building Corporation owner Tim Allred has won the Home Builder's Association of Mississippi's Best in Mississippi Award for Remodeling of a Commercial Building.

The award was for his remodeling of the Will Parker Law Office building on Front Street.

"A convenient location to the financial district, county and city administration, and in the heart of the arts district made this old, outdated structure a renovation challenge worth tackling," Allred said.

The interior walls, roof, and electrical, gas, heat, ceilings, and fixtures were all removed from the building before construction began. Historic items including the coal fireplace and mantel, the grand front windows, the brick facade, and the scored concrete floors were utilized in the new space to add character and historic value.

The building was given all new plumbing, electrical, and heating and air conditioning systems. Handicap accessible restrooms were added along with modern conveniences in the break area. Duplicates of the original building entrance doors were created for the conference room.

"This wonderful century old building has been transformed for use for many future generations," Allred said.
