Meridian's Southern Cast Products received the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program award on Tuesday. The award, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is given to companies that maintain an injury and illness rate below the national average, display management commitment and employee involvement in safety and health, and implement required safety and health programs.
Southern Cast Products is one of 22 companies in the state to receive the award. They received a three year certificate recognizing exemplary safety and health programs and records, and a three year exemption from health and safety inspections.
