Parkes named among

MSU Distinguished Staff

Stacy Parkes, of Meridian, was recently recognized as one of six Mississippi State University employees to receive the 2008 Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award.

Parkes, who is a staff assistant in the Division of Business and Industry at the Meridian Campus of Mississippi State University, won in the clerical/secretarial category. Other MSU recipients were chosen from categories including Executive, Managerial, Administrative; Other Professional (non-teaching); Technical Paraprofessional; Skilled Crafts; and Service Maintenance. Winners were presented with a plaque and cash award.

Selections were based on recommendations from MSU faculty, staff, and students. To be considered, nominees must have demonstrated professionalism and dedication to MSU by performing beyond the call of duty to improve service, quality, and image of the department/unit; served as a positive role model; demonstrated accomplishment and competence in the successful performance of one’s job; and participated in MSU campus activities and community service projects.

Parkes is a member of the Young Professionals of Meridian, serves as an ambassador for the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation, and is active in her church.

She is the daughter of David Cotten, of Decatur, and the wife of Jade Parkes, of Meridian.
