Lawrence Community Club

Members of the Lawrence Community Club were treated to a program of favorite hymns at the May 7, 2009, meeting at the clubhouse.

The Rev. Edd Saunders, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Newton, played the guitar and sang “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “What A Friend We have In Jesus.” Members joined in a sing-along on “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” “Give Me That Old Time Religion” and “Sweet Hour of Prayer.”

During the business session, Wardene Mason read the minutes and presented the financial report.

For the June project, members are asked to bring small cans of food for the Salvation Army.

Pattye Byrne will deliver clothes to The Mustard Tree in Meridian.

An update on work done on the building was presented. The entrance and doors of the building, as we as the handicap ramp were painted. Also, plywood was replaced on three of the upstairs. Pattye Byrne, hostess, said the blessing for the pot luck supper.
