Tisdale, Schmidt

MERIDIAN —     Mrs. Elaine Dixon Tisdale of DeKalb and Mr. Dudley Tisdale of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaclyn Elise, to Frederick Richard Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick G. Schmidt of Panama City, Fla.

    The wedding will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the chapel at Children’s Harbor off of Lake Martin in Alexander City, Ala.

    Miss Tisdale is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ted Dixon and Mrs. Nelda Wade, all of DeKalb, the late Leo S. Tisdale, Jr., and the late Mr. Robert Wade.

    The bride-elect received a bachelor of science degree in meteorology at the University of South Alabama. She graduated valedictorian from Kemper Academy.

    While attending USA, she was a member of The Meteorology Club, coordinated the 2010 Southeastern Coastal and Atmospheric Processes Symposium, and interned at CHILI (Center for Hurricane Intensification and Landfall Investigation).

    Miss Tisdale is employed as a contractor with Skylla Engineering at Stennis Space Center. She previously was contracted out to the National Data Buoy Center as a data analyst and is currently a physical scientist at the Naval Oceanographic Office.

    Mr. Schmidt is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson of Hummelstown, Penn., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. Schmidt of Lebanon, Penn.

    The bridegroom-elect received a bachelor of science degree in meteorology from the University of South Alabama. He is a graduate of Rutherford High School of Panama City.

    While attending college, he was a member of The Meteorology Club, was one of the co-developers of the National Weather Service’s “Beat the Heat; Check the Backseat” campaign, and was employed as a weather station technician at CHILI (Center for Hurricane Intensification and Landfall Investigation).

    Mr. Schmidt is currently a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, serving as a weather officer at the 28th Operational Weather Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.
