Pigford, Simmons

MERIDIAN —     Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gilbert Pigford of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Elizabeth, to Dustin Buchanan Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Davey Merle Simmons of Vicksburg.

    The wedding will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Meridian.

    Miss Pigford is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dixie Gilbert Pigford and the late Jack Pigford and the late Lee Cooper and Katherine Perry, all of Meridian.

    The bride-elect received a master of science degree in nursing with a specialization in anesthesia from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, La. She graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.  She graduated with highest honors in 2000 from Lamar High School.

    Miss Pigford also attended Mississippi State University, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society and Kappa Delta sorority.

    Miss Pigford is employed by Vicksburg Anesthesia as a nurse anesthetist.

    Mr. Simmons is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude L. Buchanan of Jackson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Simons of Vicksburg.

    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School. He attended Mississippi State University and Hinds Community College.

    While attending Hinds Community College, he was a member of the baseball team.

    Mr. Simmons is employed by United Rentals as the service manager of the Vicksburg location.

    A reception will be held at Northwood Country Club.
