Lanier, Bates

MERIDIAN —     Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lanier of Decatur announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Paige, to Thomas James Bates, son of Eddie and Lori Bates of Leesburg and David and Angie Collum of Brandon.

    The wedding will be Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Beulah Baptist Church in Decatur.

    Miss Lanier is the granddaughter of Shirley Glenn and the late Bill Glenn of Decatur, and Willa Estes and the late Hamp Estes of Little Rock.

    The bride-elect is a 2011 graduate of East Central Community College, where she received an associate’s degree, and a graduate of Mississippi State University, Meridian, where she received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is also a graduate of Newton County High School.

    While attending MSU Meridian, she was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the Alpha Chi honor society.

    Mr. Bates is the grandson of Jewel Bates and the late Paul Bates of Leesburg and Tommy and Betty Bullock of Pearl.

    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Pisgah High School and attended William Carey College.

    Mr. Bates is employed by Rankin County and is also serves as pastor of Tuscola Baptist Church.

    A reception will be held at the church fellowship hall.

    Family and friends are invited to attend.
