MERIDIAN —     The Rev. Dennis E. Salley Jr. and Mrs. Leanna Joy Salley of Hollandale announce the engagement of their daughter, Katelynn Joy, to Tyler Charles Turner, son of Charles Scott and Patty Irene Turner of Collinsville.

    The wedding will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 2012, at 3 p.m., at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.

    Miss Salley is the granddaughter of Carolyn Salley and the late Dr. Dennis E. Salley of Meridian and Gilbert and Margurite Butler of Guin, Ala.

    The bride-elect will graduate in December 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a graduate of Meridian Community College and Gateway Christian Academy.

    While attending MCC and USM, she was a member of the Baptist Student Union Leadership Team, Phi Theta Kappa honor society, Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, and involved in ministries at First Baptist Church McLaurin.

    Miss Salley is employed by West Point Christian Preschool.

    Mr. Turner is the grandson of Patricia and Harold Null and Frank and Lynn Vincent, all of Collinsville, and the late John D. and Annie Ruth Turner. He is the great-grandson of Irene Anglin of Collinsville.

    The bridegroom-elect is scheduled to graduate in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in history education from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School and attended Meridian Community College.

    While attending MCC and USM, he was a member of the Baptist Student Union Leadership Team and First Baptist Church McLaurin.

    Mr. Turner is employed by GameStop on the management team, and at First Baptist Church McLaurin as youth minister.

    A reception will be held at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.

    Family and friends are invited to attend.
