Hicks, Keeton

Dr. and Mrs. John B. Hicks of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Suzanne, to Barton Christopher Keeton, son of Dr. and Mrs. H. Dale Keeton of Vienna, Va.
The wedding will be held at the home of the bride’s parents on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.
Ms. Hicks is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. William R. Eure of Hattiesburg and Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hicks Jr. of Meridian.
The bride-elect is a summa cum laude graduate of Duke University Divinity School, where she received a master of theological studies degree. She is also a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Baylor University, where she received a bachelor of arts degree as a University Scholar. Ms. Hicks is a graduate of Lamar High School.
Ms. Hicks is currently pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies at Duke University.
Mr. Keeton is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Carter of Stuttgart, Ark., and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Keeton of Monticello, Ark.
The bridegroom-elect received a master of arts degree from James Madison University and a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Virginia. Mr. Keeton is a graduate of Madison High School.
Mr. Keeton is currently pursuing a doctorate in English at Duke University.
