Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Richard Davis of Meridian, formerly of Cleveland, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sidney Martha, to Samuel David Ferris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mims Ferris of Oxford, formerly of Jackson.
The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Calvary Episcopal Church, Cleveland.
Miss Davis is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leonidas Biles of Cleveland, and Mrs. Sidney Doyle Davis of Bassfield and the late Mr. Davis.
The bride-elect received a bachelor of science degree from Delta State University. She attended the University of Mississippi. She is a graduate of Cleveland High School.
While attending Ole Miss, she was a member of Chi Omega fraternity.
Miss Davis currently teaches at Trinity Presbyterian Preschool in Jackson.
Mr. Ferris is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Earl Grimes Jr. of Jackson and Mrs. Eugene Brooke Ferris Jr. of Starkville and the late Mr. Ferris Jr. of Macon.
The bridegroom-elect graduated from The New England Culinary Institute and received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Mississippi. He is a graduate of Jackson Preparatory School.
While attending Ole Miss, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
He is currently co-owner/executive chef for Mint, The Restaurant, in Ridgeland.
