Johnson, Watkins

Jerry and Crystal Johnson of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Lane, to Christopher John Watkins, son of Ted Watkins of Lena and Janie Watkins of Picayune.

The wedding will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at 4 p.m., at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in Meridian.

Miss Johnson is the granddaughter of Ramoth M. Johnson and the late Dempsey L. Johnson of Carthage and Blanche E. Clay and the late Tom L. Clay of DeKalb.

The bride-elect received a master of social work degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a bachelor of social work degree from Mississippi College. She is a graduate of Kemper Academy.

While attending Mississippi College, she was a member of the SEQ Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu honor society, the Association of Student Social Workers, Laguna Social Tribe and a sweetheart for Circle K Men’s Club.

Miss Johnson is currently employed by Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources.

Mr. Watkins is the grandson of the late Dewey and Ezelle Watkins of Lena and the late Johnny and Euga Mae Boykin of Sebastopol.

The bridegroom-elect received a master of science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a graduate of Morton High School.

Mr. Watkins is employed by Mississippi State Hospital and Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources.

A reception will be held at The Gathering Place.
