    Here's a look at upcoming programs and events at area public, private and faith-based schools:



Today

    • Meridian High School National Honor Society field trip to Birmingham.

    • Poplar Springs Elementary Gifted Gala, all-day during activity period, auditorium. Gifted student work will be on display all day in the auditorium. Parents and community are invited.



Thursday

    • West Hills Elementary Gifted Gala, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.



Friday

    • MHS "Believe in Blue" Day, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Community view of "typical day" at Meridian High School. "Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective" will be performed at 7 p.m. at the Wildcat Cafe at Ross Collins.

    • Workforce Development: Street Defensive Driving, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Workforce Development Center.

 

April 28

    • Awards Night, 6 p.m., McCain Theater.

Thursday

    • Auditions for the East Central Community College Concert Choir and Ac’cents show choir, 1 p.m., Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus.

    Members of the Concert Choir receive half tuition scholarships and those selected for Ac’cents receive a full tuition scholarship.
