MERIDIAN —     Registration for the 2013-14 year is currently under way at Calvary Christian School (CCS) for preschool-12th grades.

“Calvary Christian School is providing a full fifteen years (beginning with preschool) of spiritual and academic education for students,” said the Rev. Lamar Lifer, superintendent of the school and pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.

Established in 1965, CCS strives to provide options to meet every student’s needs in an atmosphere of spiritual growth and academic excellence. As a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, Calvary's Pre-K-12th grade classes have a low teacher-to-student ratio and incorporates the Christian-based A Beka curriculum.

Elementary students are offered challenging academic classes, field trips, morning snack/recess, daily PE classes, and weekly art, library, computer and music classes.

High school students are offered challenging and advanced academic classes, with a variety of electives, plus several clubs and organizations including: Student Council, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Students Improving Meridian Club, baseball, football and cheerleading.

All students attend a weekly chapel service. CCS does not discriminate on Christian denomination, race or national origin.

The elementary school classrooms are located in Calvary Baptist Church building, 3905 Eighth St.; middle and high school classes are held in the old Chalk School Building at 3917 Seventh St.

"Relocating the entire school to the original CCS campus has afforded us better access to high school and elementary parents, students and teachers," Headmaster Curt Pouncey said.

Preschool for 3 and 4 year olds is also in the same location and is headed by Tricia Bethany, who is available for consultation throughout the school day.

“Take the time to come by and look us over,” said Lois Davidson, president of the CCS School Board. “We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you have.”
