• LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama has created a Division of Online Programs.

Under the direction of Dean Louis Smith, the division is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the university’s online degree programs, including course scheduling and staffing, planning and assessment and responding to student questions and concerns. Previously, online programs were housed in the School of Graduate Studies.

Here’s a look at upcoming seminars at Lamar School. The seminars are for parents, teachers, counselors, church workers and anyone who lives and works with school-age children:

• Thursday — “Preparing Your Children for Adulthood.” Seminar will provide parents the tools they need to teach their child how to comply with the demands being placed on them now and the demands society will place on them in the near future. Certificate of attendance for 1.5 contact hours offered.
