Special kind of gift

Back in March I wrote a letter about my boxer bulldog Lucky who was stolen while my husband and I along with our 2 small children were out for a walk. I have a very nice follow up story to this terrible event.

While Lucky has never been returned we were given what we consider to be a miracle and an affirmation that good people still exist in the world. About 2 months ago, I got a phone call from a local man who breeds boxers and wanted to know if we had ever found our dog. When we told him no, he told us that he wanted us to stop by his house and pick out a new AKC registered boxer puppy. Furthermore, he went on to tell me that after reading my letter in the paper, he posted it on his fridge and decided that if when his dog had her puppies we still hadn't gotten Lucky back, that he was going to give us one out of his dog's litter.

I want to thank this man for the gift he gave us. It made me believe that maybe there are still a few good people left in this world after all and we want him to know that our 2 year old son is beyond thrilled to have a new puppy, Snowflake. Snowflake is a happy new member of our family, with her own special bed, toys, and all the food she can eat and of course lots of love from all of us.

Can we all unite on one thing — help our disabled veterans?

This letter is written seeking support for some folks whose contributions to Mississippi and to America are Number two in the line of giving to us. Those who gave their lives for our freedoms are number one. Those who were WILLING to give up their lives and in doing so were permanently and totally disabled in the line of duty are number two. An Internet Web-Site is being promoted that allows all Mississippi folks to show support for helping these "specific veterans." The Web-Site promotes granting those who were 100 percent permanently and totally disabled in the line of duty, serving to protect our freedoms, a FULL Homestead Exemption on their homes. In a Letter to the Clarion Ledger, I asked the question, "Do Mississippians REALLY support Disabled Vets?" I don't have an answer to that question. Is the truth that we just "SAY" we support those who sacrificed their all for us, or do we take action when we are offered an opportunity to "show" our support for these Veterans? If you do not have a Computer, please write or call any or all of the Senators, Representatives, the Governor or the Lt. Governor and ask them to support the Bills which will be introduced in January which will give a Full Homestead Exemption to our Veterans who gave so much to us! The Mississippi Budget preparations for next year have started, Lt Governor Phil Bryant has taken a stand of support for this legislation. The Sponsors are in place and new Co-Sponsors and Supporters are being added every day. We need YOUR support in letting them know you are a Supporter! Please take a few seconds of your time and make your voice heard. You can see all the information on which Senators and Representatives have signed up as Supporters of the Bill, and YOU can sign up as a Supporter on this Web-Site: www.disabledmississippiveterans.com It's not a left or right issue, it's a, "Just Do It", thing to do!

Thanks for the support of our son, family

On behalf of our family I want to extend a thank you to so many in our community who have supported us during our son’s most recent battle with Chron’s disease. To the staff at Vital Care – hat’s off to a fantastic organization who has gone out of their way to help us. If every organization treated their clients with the love and care you have shown us – we’d all be better off; Dr. Greg Thaggard and Pam, Autumn and Karen – thank you for always being there working behind the scenes in whatever way we needed you to; to the multitude of area churches who have had Justin on your prayer list (and many of you don’t even know him) – thank you for your faithfulness to lift him before the throne; to MCC’s Community and Business Development team for donating sick leave to me while I have been out with Justin and for your prayers and support – you guys are the best!; to my husband’s colleagues at AT&T for lifting Scott up and working with him while he has been gone; and most of all to our friends, families, our church family and the Clarkdale Community for your calls, cards, emails, monetary support, and prayers. We have been blessed beyond measure! And finally to New Hope Baptist Church and Jones Chapel Church of God for the upcoming Pancake Supper you are having for Justin to help defray medical cost while we’ve been at the Mayo Clinic – thank you doesn’t come close to conveying how we feel. We thank all of you for being Christ’s hands and feet and ministering to us in such an incredible way.
