Elizabeth Watts Davis

MERIDIAN —  

LANDRUM, SC — Elizabeth Watts Davis passed away Dec. 13th, at the age of 95 years at the Golden Age retirement home in Inman, SC. She was a former resident of Meridian, Miss., where she lived for more than 75 years. In 1998 she moved to Abingdon, Va., and most recently lived in Inman, SC.
 
          She was born in Scooba, Miss., to Samuel T. Watts and Rachel Duke Watts.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Davis, Jr., and three brothers: Samuel T. Watts, Jr., James Watts, and John Watts. She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Davis Fowlkes of Abingdon, Va.; two sons, Tommy Davis and his wife Fran of Inman, SC, and Robert Davis and his wife Janine of Jackson, Miss.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
          She was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Meridian, Miss., where she was an Elder, church historian and Sunday school teacher, while also holding various roles in the Presbyterian Women. She was a Girl Scout leader and board member of the Meridale Girl Scout Council. For many years she was the manager of the gift shop at Rush Memorial Hospital, and later was an auxiliary volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va.
 
          A family celebration of love and remembrance was held Dec. 15 in Inman, SC. Friends who wish to continue her legacy of compassion for others may send memorial gifts to Ecumenical Faith in Action, 788 Hillman Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210; Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4223 Poplar Springs Drive, Meridian, MS 39301; or a charity of their choice.
