1 JOHN 3:17 - “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” Praise belongs to God as every need in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 has been met. Thanks to everyone who has generously given over the years to change lives physically, financially and spiritually. Each week I stand in awe of God as I witness God’s provision in our lives.
First, let me say I am completely blown away by God’s provision last week. We were trying to provide Christmas for 30 foster care children, but instead 50 children are going to experience the love of Jesus through your prayers and giving. WOW!! THANK YOU!! God is working through each of you, and I feel privileged to have watched it all unfold. Today’s need concerns 250 different families. The Wesley House started taking applications for Christmas in September. The applications are for families who might not have Christmas without help from the community. Once the applications are approved, the Wesley House provides gifts for the children. Along with providing gifts, they also provide a bag with contents for a family Christmas meal. I listened as Renee Boatner, an employee of the Wesley House, explained the process of handing out the bags. I wish you could all see the expression on her face as she explained the reaction of the families receiving food. Some cry, while others just hug the person giving the bag as they realize they will be able to have a family meal. It touches me to realize each of these bags represents God’s provision. It is my hope through each meal provided someone might draw closer to God. Smaller families receive a hen, and larger families receive a turkey in their bag. Over 800 families have been approved this year. Last year 250 of the applicants received a turkey. With $3,600 we can provide the turkeys needed so that 250 families can enjoy a nice family meal together. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these families through your prayers and giving.
For your information — Any story I write will be after an individual has been checked out through the Wesley House Clearing Procedure. Each individual must bring proof of I.D., pay stubs, tax records, and a social security number for each member of the household. In addition, any child over 18 must provide income information, copies of any outgoing bills, and proof of any subsidy such as food stamps, housing allowance, etc. There is an extensive application that proves who the people are and the situation they face. Phone calls are placed to verify employment and information provided. The money you give will go in full to the individual if you decide to help. God is so good, and thank you for being somebody God can use. Please pray for each story and see if God gives you the means to help. If God puts it on your heart, please do not use the excuse somebody else will take care of it because it might go undone.
