Today’s need — praise for 2009-2012

MERIDIAN — Today’s need concerns one special thing called praise.  Deuteronomy 32:3 says, “I will proclaim the name of the Lord oh praise the greatness of our God.” As I look back on 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, I want to scream this verse for all to hear.God has met every need for 1 JOHN 3:17 for more than three years. Wow! Praise God.

I praise God for Hebrews 13:7-8: “Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

I praise God; He is the same. That means the same God that used Jacob, a liar; Joseph, a slave; Moses, a shepherd; Gideon, a farmer; Hannah, a housewife; Ezra, a scribe; Esther, a slave girl; Mary, a peasant girl; Matthew, a tax collector; Luke, a physician; and Peter, a fisherman, can use me and you. Praise God; if he used those people, He can use us.

I praise God when He says, “Consider the outcome of their way of life.” What were the outcomes? Small armies conquered big armies, diseases disappeared, seas parted to make dry land, shepherd boys became kings, small men defeated giants, a man was spit out of a fish, 5,000 people were fed, storms were stilled, and blind found sight to name a few.

Praise God; I want to be a part of these. Do you? God wants to use us. God is calling us. God is calling you. We are facing giants in this world. God needs some people who are willing to fight for His glory. Saul asked, “Who will go and fight for us?” David answered, “I will go and fight.”

Are you like David or are you like the many watching David? Ask yourself Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying whom shall I send and who will go for us and I said here am I send me.” Will you answer God the same?

You may ask where will God send you? The answer may be some far off location, but it may also be right where you are. There are people in our backyards that will get wet if it rains tonight. There are people in our backyards wondering if they are going to eat today. There are people in our backyards with nowhere to lay their head.

There are people in our backyards being abused and told they are no good.      There are people in our backyards huddled together in a house with no heat for the cold. There are people in our backyards who could die tonight without knowing Jesus.

So could the answer be right where you are? Yes! God can use you. You may say the problem is too big, and what difference can I make?

There is a story of a young boy on a beach full of starfish. Each starfish washed up on the beach was dying. The young boy walked down the beach throwing one starfish at a time back into the lifesaving water. An elderly gentleman saw the young boy and told him, “Young boy, what you are doing is noble, but you cannot fix this problem. This problem is too big.”

The young boy picked up one starfish, threw it in the water, smiled, and told the man, “Well, it mattered to that one.” Maybe you cannot fix every problem, but what are the ones you can?

For over two years we have been trying to live out 1 JOHN 3:17: “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him how can the love of God be in him?” Have you ever read the next verse, 1 JOHN 3:18, “Let us not love with words or tongue but with action and truth”?

What people group, cause, or situation is constantly on your heart? Maybe God is placing a mission in your life. Wake up and realize this is your life. The past is gone, the future is not guaranteed, but you have the present.

Are you brave enough to take the present time you have and tell God Isaiah 6:8 “Send me"?

God has provided for every need we have presented for over three years. I praise God, for He has been amazing in His provision.

One last thing I would like to praise God for is you. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these needs through your prayers and generosity in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. I look forward to what God will accomplish through 1 JOHN 3:17 and you in 2013!
