Today's need — $3,150

MERIDIAN —      “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” 1 John 3:17

Praise belongs to God as every need since 2009 has been met. Thanks to everyone who has generously given over the years to change and enhance lives physically, financially, and spiritually. Each week I stand in awe of God as I witness God’s provision in our lives.

Today’s need concerns six circumstances. These circumstances are a compilation of people who shared with us their stories. These stories protect the confidentiality of the individuals. The first need is a single mother with two young daughters. She was in a terrible car accident two years ago. The medical bills and rehabilitation made it nearly impossible for her to make ends meet. She is keeping a positive attitude even though she is struggling.  We can assist with her bills as she continues to heal.

The second need is a single mother parenting three children. After the death of her sister, she took in her sister’s children. Her hours were recently cut by her employer because of slow business. We can assist with her utilities as her hours return to normal.

The third need is a single mother with two young children. The father left the family after the last child was born, and they have no idea where he moved. She works two jobs trying to keep all her bills paid. However, she was laid off from one job two months ago for a couple weeks. Those two weeks without the second job made it impossible for her financially. We can help with her rent so she can continue to provide for her children.

The fourth need is a father of two teenage boys whose wife passed away a few years ago. He missed two weeks of work and can’t seem to get caught up. He has never asked for assistance, but someone encouraged him to come to the Wesley House. Helping with the mortgage and utilities will be monumental for this family.

The fifth need is a single mother with two children who are both honor roll students. She works a full-time and a part-time job. She was laid off from her part-time job, but she quickly found a new one in a few weeks. The missed income for two weeks made it difficult for her to afford necessities. Providing utilities will give her financial relief as she continues to raise her two children.

The sixth need is a couple in their late 50s. The husband had heart surgery, and the wife missed work to be by his side a few days while he was in the hospital. Missing both their incomes for that period of time put them in a serious financial situation. We can assist with their utilities as they both return to work.

With $3,150 we can meet all these needs. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these needs through your prayers and giving.

For your information, any story will be shared after all needs and individuals have been processed through the Wesley Clearing House. Proof of I.D., pay stubs, tax records, and a social security number for each member of the household must be provided. In addition, any child over 18 must provide income information, copies of any outgoing bills, and proof of any subsidy such as food stamps, housing allowance, etc.  This extensive application process ensures the people and the situations they face are real.  God is so good! Thank you for being somebody He can use. Please pray for each need and see if God gives you the means to help. If He puts it on your heart, please act on it.

Do you think the city of Meridian should have tried harder to find funding to repair the dam at Long Creek Reservoir before deciding to drain the lake?
