MERIDIAN —     1 JOHN 3:17 - “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” Praise belongs to God as every need in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 has been met. Thanks to everyone who has generously given over the years to change lives physically, financially, and spiritually.  Each week I stand in awe of God as I witness God’s provision in our lives.

Today’s need concerns six circumstances. These circumstances are a culmination of individuals who told us their stories. These stories protect the confidentiality of the individuals. The first need is a young mother trying to get herself and her four young children into a safe place to live. She left an abusive relationship when she became afraid for her children’s safety. She took what she could throw into her car and left everything else behind. She is starting completely over working a new job, and her kids are attending new schools. We can provide counseling, clothing, food, utilities, and rent as she begins to heal and feel safe.

The second need is an elderly gentleman who has fallen behind because he has been in and out of the hospital. We can provide utilities and medications while he regains his health.

The third need is a single father with three children. He had a severe heart attack last month and has been unable to return to work. He has never asked for help and it was hard for him to seek assistance. However, he felt he had no choice in order to provide for the children. We can provide utilities and medications as he returns to work.

The fourth need is a couple with two children. The husband has not been released to go back to work since finding out he has several health problems concerning his heart, lungs, and diabetes. The missed income has him facing financial difficulties.  We can provide medications, utilities, and rent as he returns to work.

The fifth need is a mother of two who was laid off by her employer. She has found a new job but the missed income between jobs has her worried about her finances. We can provide utilities as she starts her new job.

The sixth need is a couple with three children. The husband recently started having health problems causing him to miss work for a month. They have been trying to live on the wife’s income, but it is running out. The wife’s income has also decreased because of the necessity of taking the husband to doctor appointments. We can provide utilities as they both return to work full time.

With $2,750 we can meet all these needs. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these needs through your prayers and giving.

For your information - Any story I write will be after an individual has been checked out through the Wesley House Clearing Procedure. Each individual must bring proof of I.D., pay stubs, tax records, and a social security number for each member of the household. In addition, any child over 18 must provide income information, copies of any outgoing bills, and proof of any subsidy such as food stamps, housing allowance, etc. There is an extensive application that proves who the people are and the situation they face. Phone calls are placed to verify employment and information provided. The money you give will go in full to the individual if you decide to help. God is so good, and thank you for being somebody God can use. Please pray for each story and see if God gives you the means to help. If God puts it on your heart, please do not use the excuse somebody else will take care of it because it might go undone.
