ICBA names McDonnell to Top 20 Twitter banking influencers

MERIDIAN —     The Independent Community Bankers of America has released their list of the Top 20 Community Banker Influencers on Twitter. These rankings, which are the first of their kind, highlight the community bank social media trailblazers among the financial industry. Archie McDonnell, president and CEO of Citizens National Bank, was featured on the list.

“Congratulations to all the community banks and community bankers featured on ICBA’s Top 50 Community Bank Leaders in Social Media and ICBA’s Top 20 Community Banker Influencers on Twitter,” Chris Lorence, ICBA executive vice president said. “Building a brand goes beyond a perceived geographical footprint; social media opens the doors of opportunity even wider for community banks.

Lorence said consumers now expect fresh content, insight and consistent interaction with brands they are connected to online, and community banks are no exception.

"ICBA is proud to highlight those community banks and bankers who are blazing a critical trail forward by making social media an integral part of their brand and communications strategy," Lorence said.

Community bankers were chosen based on their engagement with fans and followers, the content distributed on their social media platforms, the number of fans and/or followers they have, and the frequency of posting new content. In September’s issue of   the ICBA’s Independent Banker magazine, some of the community banks and community bankers will be profiled.

“It’s an honor to be featured on ICBA’s Top 20 Community Banker Influencers on Twitter list,” McDonnell said. "As the leader of a community bank which has been in business for 125 years now, I believe it’s important to stay visible and serve as an active participant in the communities we serve,” he said.

McDonnell invites others to follow him personally on Twitter @archiemcdonnell, and to connect with the Bank by searching for YourCNB on Facebook, Twitter, as well as YouTube.

“At Citizens National Bank, we've built our entire franchise on the premise that today's banking consumer has an innate desire to do business with a financial institution that listens to their needs, seeks to understand their unique situation, and responds with tangible solutions that benefit them personally,” McDonnell said.  “Social media provides our bank with an unprecedented opportunity to connect instantaneously with the tens of thousands of clients that we serve in a meaningful way.  We relish the opportunity to strengthen our ties with the communities we serve and to be thoroughly engaged with our client base, in a media format that allows them to both participate and interact with us."
